The band, the music, the dance.

puts on sound 📣🎶🎵

Ok, I NEED you to understand just how insane even ATTEMPTING this was for them.

1. Playing an instrument is difficult. Doing so in sync with others even more so. Don’t think I’m stepping on any toes saying that.

2. Dancing is difficult. Doing so in sync with others even more so. Still not controversial.

3. YOU AVOID, AT ALL COSTS, MOVING YOUR BODY WHILE PLAYING A WIND INSTRUMENT.  To make the correct, pleasant sounds, you need to be in the correct form. And that form involves your ENTIRE body, even your legs when sitting down.

4. “oh, but I’ve seen marching bands before and-” MARCHING BANDS HAVE ENTIRE SCIENTIFIC FIELDS DEDICATED TO FIGURING OUT HOW TO MARCH WITH MINIMUM BREAKING OF PROPER FORM. A marching band tries to be as smooth as possible while moving, so as not to jar their instrument, mouth, neck, arms, torso, or anything else. These ladies and gentlemen are BOUNCING and still playing properly, what the FU-!

5. AND ANOTHER THING! Wind instruments and dancing BOTH make demands on your breathing, so the fact that they are dancing (making you breath faster for extra oxygen) AND playing wind instruments (making you effectively hold your breath) AT THE SAME TIME is HUGE. Their lungs must be MASSIVE.

All of that also; the song is Sing, sing, sing (with a swing). If you wanna listen to some of THE SPICIEST big band ever recorded. Its a big hard song and this band does it expertly.

Fortnight should be two nights. Fortweek should be two weeks. You agree.

Thus would allow us to disambiguate "bimonthly" into "twice monthly" and "fortmonthly".

so what if we had 'twoforts' as shorter but obviously better 24-day months

also, then months would be exactly 4 weeks

Months should either be properly lunar (con: do not fit into the year properly) or they should be thirty days each with a thirteenth five/six-day rest period at the end of each year like they are in Time to Orbit: Unknown.

There should be five weeks, each six days long, per month. This means that within a year, the first day of the month will always be the same day of the week (it would change between years on non-leap years); it also means that the week can easily be halved or thirded, making scheduling for things to be done every second day or every third day much easier (and every fourth day fits neatly into a 2 week period).

The length of the hour should be doubled and the length of the second should be halved, giving us a 120 -> 120 -> 12 ratio of seconds to minutes to hours to 1 day, instead of the current 60 -> 60 -> 24. This ratio is mathematically simpler. The twenty four hour clock that Americans call "military time" (a 12-hour clock int his system) should be standard.

No I don't think about timekeeping too much, why do you ask.

Puppy in cozy, toasty warm, comfort.  Taken into the flock.

worth pointing out that appears to be a great pyrenees dog AKA a livestock guardian dog. :)

they’re learning to cohabitate with sheep who they will then grow up to protect!

Photo is by Cat Urbigkit. It’s from her ranch in Wyoming; she says the dogs are Akbash. Here are some more of her photos of working livestock guardian dogs.

we literally need more and better feminism

we need ugly gross disgusting feminism again without conforming to aesthetics and advertisement companies i want pit hair i want leg hair i want weird haircuts i want to get rid of diet culture and ads for pink razors and make-up i want women to reject biological determinism and push away from the overwhelming tradwife narratives that social media feeds everyone ('natural hormone cycles' and 'divine feminine' and all of that shit) etc. i want more women working i want heterosexual relationships to get more balanced i also want it to be a norm for heterosexual couples to assess role assignments in the relationships and think critically about why they want children i want having children not to be something people just do because it is expected of them. I want a dyke for president. Etcetera
